Colin Matthews (b. 1989) is an American photographer born in Chicago, Illinois and living in Richmond, Virginia. He studied Cultural Anthropology at Virginia Commonwealth University, a background which partly informs his photographic fixation on the broad spectrum of humanity. In addition to creating with cameras for over 25 years, he’s had a leading career in visual design and product development for the web. His photographs bridge candid documentary and intimate portraiture with sympathy and intrigue; quiet forces that set the viewer adrift in inky shadows, rich textures, and the achingly beautiful human experience.
